About the Data
Description of the data source, numerator, denominator, survey questions, and other relevant details about the national estimate.
Number of AIDS cases among persons 13 years and older who report specific heterosexual contact with a person known to have, or be at high risk for, HIV infection
The AIDS case definition is provided by the CDC. The data are based on the CDC adult HIV/AIDS confidential case report, Form 50.42A, Rev. 3/2007.
Estimated numbers resulted from statistical adjustment that accounted for reporting delays, but not for incomplete reporting. Heterosexual contact is with a person known to have, or to be at high risk for, HIV infection.
Any change to the objective text, baseline, target, target-setting method or data source since the Healthy People 2020 launch.
