Trend Issues:
The 2008 MSM round of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System (NHBS) was conducted with approximately 500 participants from each of 21 metropolitan areas in the US. The 2011 round was conducted in 20 areas.

In 2008 eligibility for men who have sex with men (MSM) was defined as ever having had sex with a man. In 2011 the definition was modified and meant that the person had had sex with a man in the past 12 months.
