Weight Reduction for Primary Prevention of Stroke in Adults with Overweight or Obesity

Description of Resource:
Overweight and obesity are associated with many serious health conditions including stroke. This systematic review sought to assess the effects of weight reduction in people with overweight or obesity on stroke incidence. Despite a thorough search of the available literature, no studies of good quality investigating the relationship between weight reduction and the occurrence of strokes were identified. Since every intervention might have negative consequences, there is an urgent need for randomized controlled clinical trials to provide sound evidence for the effects of weight reduction on stroke prevention.
