Characterizing Waiting Room Time, Treatment Time, and Boarding Time in the Emergency Department Using Quantile Regression
Description of Resource:
The study used data on all visits to each of the emergency departments (EDs) over a period of 1 year. Patient volumes ranged from 50,000 to 62,000. Emergency room bed capacities also differed, from 26 beds at one hospital to 41 beds at another. In terms of patient characteristics, one ED treated a higher percentage of the uninsured (37%). Another hospital ED treated a higher percentage (45%) of low-acuity patients compared with the others.
