We are pleased to provide information about making travel arrangements for the Healthy People 2020 Stakeholders Meeting in Bethesda, MD. We also include local travel information for getting to Natcher Conference Center from Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The meeting will be held at the Natcher Conference Center, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Building 45, 45 Center Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892. Tentatively, the meeting on Wednesday, May 28, is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and adjourn at 5:30 p.m.

Air Transportation

EWA Travel is a participating travel agency for the Healthy People 2020 Regional Meetings. EWA Travel will discount all published fares (up to 10% depending on fare and advance purchase) with United Airlines and will compare the savings with this airline against promotional fares for all airlines. You will have the option of using United Airlines or another airline, depending on the fare comparisons and your preference. Please note that although you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements, you are not required to use EWA Travel. We are providing this option as a convenience for you.

Ground Transportation from Airports

Driving directions from BWI:

Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway south toward Washington, DC. At I-495 (the Capital Beltway), head west toward Silver Spring/Bethesda. From the Beltway (I-495), take exit 34, which is Route 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike), and head south toward Washington/Bethesda. Follow the signs to the designated entrances for visitor access.

Taxicab:

BWI is approximately 1 hour from the Natcher Conference Center via taxi. Taxicabs are located just outside of the Baggage Claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI Airport Terminal.

SuperShuttle:

SuperShuttle’s door-to-door shared van service is available from BWI. Go to lower level and follow signs to the SuperShuttle desk located between Baggage Claims 6 and 7. The ticket counter is open between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. During other times please call 888–826–2700 to arrange service.

From IAD:

Head east on the Dulles Airport Access Road for approximately 13 miles. Exit onto I-495 (the Capital Beltway), heading north toward Bethesda/Baltimore. From the Beltway (I-495), take exit 34, which is Route 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike), and head south toward Washington/Bethesda. Follow the signs to the designated entrances for visitor access.

Taxicab:

IAD is approximately 45 minutes from the Natcher Conference Center via taxi. Taxi stands are found on the Ground Transportation level of the airport.

SuperShuttle:

SuperShuttle’s door-to-door shared van service is available from Dulles International Airport. Collect your baggage and follow signs for ground transportation leading you directly to the SuperShuttle boarding area located on lower level, outside at curb 1D or 1E. There will be a uniformed Guest Service Representative who will assist with baggage and boarding. After 12 midnight call 703-416-7884.

From DCA:

Head north on the George Washington Parkway for approximately 12 miles. Exit onto I-495 (the Capital Beltway), and head north to Maryland. From the Beltway (I-495), take exit 34, which is Route 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike), and head south toward Washington/Bethesda. Follow the signs to the designated entrances for visitor access.

Taxicab:

DCA is approximately 25 minutes from the Natcher Conference Center via taxi. Taxicabs are available at the exits of each terminal. Dispatchers are available at the exits to assist passengers.

Super Shuttle:

SuperShuttle's door-to-door shared van service is available from DCA. Super Shuttle stops are clearly identified on the Ground Transportation level of the airport. When arriving at the airport, proceed to the outside curb and contact the Super Shuttle representative at 703–416–7873. After hours call 1–800–258–3826.

Metrorail to NIH:

Metrorail service is available from DCA and from Union Station (railway).

• From DCA, board a Yellow Line train (marked Mt. Vernon Square), and transfer to a Red Line train (marked Shady Grove) at the Gallery Place-Chinatown station. Exit the train at the Medical Center Metro stop.
• From Union Station, board a Red Line train marked Shady Grove or Grosvenor to the Medical Center Station.

The station’s escalators come out on the NIH campus. There is a walkway from the Metro station to the Natcher Center.
