Hotel and Travel Information

We are pleased to provide information about making hotel reservations and travel arrangements for the Healthy People 2020 regional meeting in San Francisco. We also include local travel information for getting to the hotel from San Francisco International Airport. The meeting will be held at the San Francisco Federal Building, 90 7th Street, (corner of 7th Street and Mission Street), San Francisco, CA 94103. Tentatively, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, and adjourn at 5:30 p.m.

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved at Hotel 480, 480 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94108, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a special conference rate for rooms booked in advance for the night of March 31:

• $152/night for single/double occupancy

Please note that reservations must be made no later than Wednesday, March 12, 2008, to obtain the special conference rate.

Please refer to the Healthy People 2020 regional meeting room block to receive the special conference rate. Accessible rooms for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please let the hotel know about your needs.

NOTE HOTEL NAME CHANGE: Hotel 480 will be changing its name to San Francisco Marriott Union Square in January of 2009.

Air Transportation

EWA Travel is a participating travel agency for the Healthy People 2020 regional meeting. EWA Travel will discount all published fares (up to 10% depending on fare and advance purchase) with United Airlines and will compare the savings with this airline against promotional fares for all airlines. You will have the option of using United Airlines or another airline, depending on the fare comparisons and your preference. Please note that although you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements, you are not required to use EWA Travel. We are providing this option as a convenience for you.

Ground Transportation from San Francisco International Airport

Driving directions from San Francisco International Airport to the Hotel 480 (approximately 15 miles)

From San Francisco International Airport and points south, take Highway 101 North into San Francisco. Follow I-80 E toward Bay Bridge. Take 4th Street exit. Turn slight left on Bryant Street. Turn left on 3rd Street. Continue on Kearny Street. Turn left on Sutter Street. Hotel is 3 blocks down Sutter on the right, at the corner of Sutter and Powell.

(approximately 13 miles)

From San Francisco International Airport and points south, take Highway 101 North into San Francisco. Follow signs for Bay Bridge. Exit at 7th Street. Make a left turn on 7th Street. Go four blocks and the San Francisco Federal Building will be on the left.

Taxicab

Taxi service from the San Francisco International Airport to Hotel 480 is approximately $40 for one person plus tax and tip, one way. The drive from the airport to the hotel takes about 25 minutes. Taxis depart from Terminal 3, Level 1, Terminal 1, Level 1, and International Terminal, Level 2 located at the roadway center island on the arrivals/baggage claim level of all terminals.

Uniformed taxi coordinators are stationed at the taxi zones from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. to assist passengers with questions or concerns.

Ramp accessible taxis are available. Please contact the taxi coordinator to request a ramp accessible taxi, or phone *1191 from any airport courtesy phone.

Shared-Ride Shuttles (Depart every 10–15 minutes)

Door-to-door vans offer transportation from the San Francisco International Airport to the hotel for approximately $16 per person, one way. This is not a nonstop shuttle service; it stops at other hotels to drop off passengers. These shuttles also provide service from the hotel to the airport.

From the airport: Van service is available on a walk-up basis. However, passengers are advised to make reservations for service after 11:00 p.m. Door-to-door vans pick up on the Departures/Ticketing Level from the roadway center island at all terminals.

To the airport: Advanced reservations are required. Please contact the service provider directly. Door-to-door vans drop off at the terminal curbs on the Departures/Ticketing Level of all terminals. Ground Transportation by Car to San Francisco Federal Building

For those who are traveling by car, the San Francisco Federal Building is located at 90 7th Street, (corner of 7th Street and Mission Street), San Francisco, CA 94103. Please note: Visitor parking is extremely limited at the Federal Building; if at all possible, take public transportation. Please see parking and security for additional parking options.

From San Francisco International Airport and Points South

Take Highway 101 North into San Francisco. Follow signs for Bay Bridge. Exit at 7th Street. Make a left turn on 7th Street. Go four blocks and the San Francisco Federal Building will be on the left.

From the Golden Gate Bridge and Points North

Take Highway 101 South over Golden Gate Bridge. Turn left on Grove Street. Bear right onto Hyde Street. Continue onto 8th Street. Turn left onto Mission Street. Turn left onto 7th Street. Go half a block and the San Francisco Federal Building will be on the left.

From the Bay Bridge and Points East

Exit on Fifth Street. Bear left onto Harrison Street. Turn right onto 7th Street. Go three blocks and the San Francisco Federal Building will be on the left.
