Methodology Notes

A system for tracking asthma cases, illness, and disability is defined as: (1) a funding award from the National Asthma Control Program; (2) a funding award from the Environmental Public Health Tracking Program; or (3) implementation of the Asthma call back survey. The ACB is a comprehensive asthma specific survey conducted among respondents with a history of doctor diagnosed asthma who are identified during the Behavioral Risk Factor Survey.

Changes Between HP2010 and HP2020
This objective differs from Healthy People 2010 objective 24-08 in that the count of geographic areas with asthma surveillance systems was expanded to include US territories in addition to states, and the definition was modified to include recipients of either of two funding sources that require asthma surveillance in addition to states and territories participating in a detailed asthma survey.
