Methodology Notes

Stage 3 (AIDS) at diagnosis is based on first CD4 test performed or documentation of an AIDS-defining condition ≤3 months after a diagnosis of HIV infection. Transmission category data have been statistically adjusted to account for missing transmission category.

This objective was moved to measurable in 2013. The objective title was revised from "Increase the proportion of new HIV infections diagnosed before progression to AIDS" to "Reduce the proportion of persons with a diagnosis of Stage 3 HIV (AIDS) within 3 months of diagnosis of HIV infection".
