Methodology Notes

The numerator for this measure is estimated by all adolescents who responded “yes” to ever using firearms or who were ever exposed to loud noise or music for 5 hours a week at or outside of a job and who also responded ”most of the time”, “sometimes” or “rarely/seldom” to wearing protective hearing devices. The denominator is estimated by all adolescents who responded “yes” to ever using firearms or who were ever exposed to loud noise or music for 5 or more hours a week at or outside of a job.
