Annual Synopses of State and Territorial Dental Public Health Programs

Description:

The Annual Synopses of Dental Programs is a mechanism for sharing information among State Dental Directors and partners. The Synopses describe program activities, successes, and challenges faced during the previous year.

Data Years Available:
1994-present
Periodicity:
Annual
Mode of Collection:
Electronic questionnaire.
Selected Content:
Data are collected on staffing, population served, Medicaid and other dental policies, the dental care infrastructure and supply, dental funding sources, programs provided, and other dental topics.
Population Covered:
Public Health dental programs in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S.-associated jurisdictions.
Methodology:
Synopses questionnaires are sent via email to Dental Directors in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and U.S.-associated jurisdictions. Respondents are asked to supply the most recent data available or data for the most recently completed fiscal year.
Response Rates and Sample Size:
Response rates are not available.
Interpretation Issues:
The year indicates the year in which the Synopses were published, not the data year. States provided data for differing time periods and there may be inconsistencies in reporting periods. For some data items, data collected by federal agencies (e.g., the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) were used when the dental director did not provide an estimate. These data may not be directly comparable to data provided by states.
