Methodology Notes

The measure definition follows the guidelines in the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Guidelines for the Management of Patients with (ST-Elevation) Myocardial Infarction. The time-to-treatment recommendations in these Guidelines start with when the patient presents to the medical system.

STEMI patients were excluded if they were transferred in or had a non-system reason to delay fibrinolytic therapy.

Changes Between HP2010 and HP2020
This objective differs from Healthy People 2010 objective 12-3a in that this objective tracks eligible (STEMI) patients with heart attacks who receive fibrinolytic therapy within 30 minutes of hospital arrival instead of within an hour of symptom onset. The data source has been changed from the National Registry of Myocardial Infarction (NRMI–4) to the Acute Coronary Treatment and Intervention Outcomes Network Registry-Get with the Guidelines.
